Ingredients
- 3 medium beets
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper (optional)
Instructions
1. Start by cleaning your beets. Scrub them under running water to remove any dirt or debris.
2. Use a sharp knife to trim off the beet tops and roots.
3. Slice the beets into thin rounds using a mandoline slicer. Aim for slices about 1/16 to 1/8 inch thick for optimal crispiness.
4. In a large bowl, toss the beet slices with 1 tablespoon of olive oil to coat them evenly.
5. Sprinkle the coated beet slices with 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt and, if desired, 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Mix well to ensure each slice is evenly seasoned.
6. Preheat your air fryer to 360°F (182°C).
7. Arrange the beet slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. It’s important not to overcrowd them to ensure they cook evenly.
8. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until the beet chips are crispy and lightly browned. Shake the basket or turn the slices halfway through cooking to promote even crisping.
9. Once done, remove the beet chips from the air fryer and let them cool on a rack to enhance their crispiness.
Notes
Beet slices can vary in thickness, which may require adjusting the cooking time. Start checking your chips around the 12-minute mark to avoid burning them.
