Ingredients
- 4 Granny Smith apples or Honeycrisp apples (feel free to mix if you like)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (optional, for added sweetness)
- Cooking spray (to prevent sticking)
Instructions
1. Slice apples uniformly: Use a mandoline slicer to get even, thin slices, about 1/8 inch thick. This ensures they cook evenly.
2. Season the apple slices: Place apple slices in a mixing bowl. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon and 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (if using). Toss to coat evenly.
3. Preheat air fryer: Set your air fryer to 300°F. Preheating helps the apple chips cook evenly.
4. Arrange apple slices: Lay the apple slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overlapping them to ensure they crisp up properly.
5. Cook at 300°F: Air fry the apple slices at 300°F for 15-20 minutes. Check halfway through and flip the slices for even cooking.
6. Check for doneness: The apple chips should be crisp and golden brown. If they need more time, cook in 2-3 minute increments until done.
7. Cool and enjoy: Let the apple chips cool completely on a wire rack. This helps them crisp up further.
Notes
Every air fryer is different. Keep an eye on your apple chips to prevent burning, especially during the last few minutes of cooking.
