Instructions
1. First, rinse them under cold water to remove any grit. Then, using kitchen scissors, trim off the face about a quarter-inch behind the eyes.
2. Next, lift the pointed ends of the top shell and remove the gills. Flip the crab and remove the apron. Now, they’re ready to be seasoned and cooked.
3. Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (188°C). It’s crucial to start with a hot air fryer to ensure the crabs get that perfect crispy texture.
4. Prepare your dredging stations. In one bowl, place the flour mixed with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. In a second bowl, have your beaten eggs ready. In a third bowl, place the panko breadcrumbs (or your chosen substitute).
5. Dredge the crabs. First, lightly coat a crab in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the beaten eggs, then coat it well with the panko breadcrumbs. Repeat this process with the remaining crabs.
