Ingredients
- 12 large white button mushrooms or baby Portobello mushrooms
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh spinach (optional)
- 1/4 cup cooked and crumbled Italian sausage (optional)
- 2 tablespoons chopped sun-dried tomatoes (optional)
Instructions
1. Clean the mushrooms: Wipe each mushroom with a damp cloth to remove dirt.
2. Remove the stems: Gently twist and pull the stems out of the mushroom caps.
3. Optionally scoop out the gills: Use a small spoon to remove the gills for more filling space.
Tip: Choose firm, fresh mushrooms to ensure they hold up during cooking.
4. Mix the filling: In a bowl, combine cream cheese, Parmesan, mozzarella, garlic, olive oil, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper.
5. Add optional ingredients: If using, mix in chopped spinach, crumbled sausage, and sun-dried tomatoes.
6. Achieve the right consistency: Ensure the mixture is well-blended and smooth for easy stuffing.
7. Preheat the air fryer: Set it to 375°F (190°C).
8. Stuff the mushrooms: Fill each mushroom cap with the cheesy herb mixture.
9. Arrange mushrooms in the air fryer basket: Leave space between them for even cooking.
10. Cook the mushrooms: Air fry for 8-10 minutes until golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
11. Adjust for your air fryer model: Cooking times may vary, so check for doneness.
Notes
Make sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow proper air circulation for even cooking.
