Instructions
- Prep the Beef: In a large skillet, cook 1 lb ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add Spices: Stir in 1 finely chopped onion, 2 minced garlic cloves, and 1 seeded, finely chopped Scotch bonnet pepper. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Season: Add 1 teaspoon ground allspice, 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Mix well to ensure even distribution of spices.
- Moisten: Pour in 1/2 cup beef broth or water. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon breadcrumbs to thicken the mixture. Simmer until the liquid reduces and the filling becomes spicy beef filling.
- Make Dough: Combine 2 cups flour, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric, and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a bowl. Cut in 1/2 cup cold butter or beef suet until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Bind Dough: Gradually add 1/2 cup cold water, stirring until a dough forms. Wrap in plastic and chill for 30 minutes for easier handling.
- Assemble Patties: Roll out dough on a floured surface. Cut circles, add filling, fold, and seal edges.
- Air Fry: Preheat air fryer to 350°F. Cook patties for 15 minutes or until golden.
