Air Fryer Korean BBQ Chicken

I’m very happy to share one of my favorite recipes: air fryer Korean BBQ chicken. This easy recipe is packed with flavor and delivers crispy results every time.

Chicken:

  • 2 lbs chicken thighs (boneless, skinless)

Marinade/Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp ginger (grated)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional for garnish)
  • 2 green onions (sliced, optional for garnish)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Marinade: In a mixing bowl, combine 2 tbsp gochujang, 3 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp sesame oil, 3 cloves minced garlic, 2 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tbsp rice vinegar, 1 tbsp grated ginger, and 1 tbsp honey. Whisk until smooth.

2. Marinate the Chicken: Place the 2 lbs of chicken thighs in a large bowl or resealable plastic bag. Pour the marinade over the chicken, making sure each piece is well-coated. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, preferably 2-3 hours for maximum flavor.

3. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes. This ensures even cooking.

4. Arrange the Chicken: Lightly grease the air fryer basket to prevent sticking. Arrange the marinated chicken thighs in a single layer in the basket. Avoid overcrowding for even cooking.

5. Air Fry the Chicken: Cook the chicken at 375°F (190°C) for 15-18 minutes, flipping halfway through. Use tongs to flip the chicken to ensure both sides get crispy. Check for doneness – the internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).

6. Garnish and Serve: Remove the chicken from the air fryer. Let it rest for a few minutes. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot with rice or your favorite sides.

Notes

Always check the internal temperature of the chicken to ensure it reaches 165°F (74°C). This ensures the chicken is fully cooked and safe to eat.
